Gentry Creek Equine Retirement and Rehabilition

Gentry Creek Farm is a lovely 100 acre estate nestled against the Cherokee National Forest in northeastern Tennessee. The peaceful, quiet environment, the beautiful green pastures, the pleasant cool summer climate, provide an ideal senior horse retreat. This farm is owned and operated by the Mitchell family. We, Rik, Marilyn and our daughter Amy, have been involved with horses most all our lives. We established Equidon, a nonprofit organization with a 501 C (3) status, and have spent over 25 years working with rehabilitation of show horses, rescue and retirement. Thus, we have seen first hand the difficulty people are faced with when they are unable to retire their horses on their own farm. Because of this, we have decided to make retirement our main focus. We will be accepting a limited number so the horses can settle in with one good friend for life and have as few changes as possible.
Rehabilitation:
For horses that are no longer able to continue their present career in the show ring, or have behavioral problems, Equidon offers a donation program based on an individual assessment. Here, these horses will have the opportunity for rehabilitation or retraining into a new more suitable career . If you have a horse that you are unable to sell or if you simply do not want or have the time to market your horse, we will be happy to discuss our DONATION program with you. It can be a wonderful solution to a difficult situation, as well as can offer the assurance that your horse will be placed in a suitable and appropriate home. All donations are tax deductible. (We use natural, resistance free training methods.)
Retirement:
Retirement for horses who have served well and deserve the extra care and love necessary in their latter years, we offer a complete retirement program. The caregivers at Gentry Creek are well aware of the special needs of an older horse. Our goal is to provide a situation where an animal's final years will be the best possible.
